SEO = Search Engine Optimization = the art of trying to get search engines to not just find you but like you so you can get traffic to your website. One tip many people forget is to do their keyword research. But even if you know how to do that, there are many SEO keyword tips to optimize your site.
This article deals with one easy to miss keyword tip (which also gives you a huge benefit when it comes to SEO)
What is this tip?
Include your targeted keywords in your page title (or blog post title).
This not only means the visible title of your page has your keywords, but the title tag which is visible to the search engines also contains your keywords.
The title tag should be at the top of your web page and when people browse to your page, whatever you put in your title will appear in that title bar of their web browser.
Now you don’t want to just spam your keyword over and over again. Search engines have become very smart.
The trick is to make search engines like you AND make readers like you also.
In other words, natural english (or natural language) for reading, but with the keywords for the search engines and robots and spiders and crawlers.
The wording you put in the title tag is extremely relevant to how your page is ranked by the search engines and also how they list your page in their search results.
If your website is more than just a home page, the title of each page should appear in its title tag. In other words, if your site is targeted more than one keyword (which it should), then create a page on each of your sites based on each keyword you want to rank for. Then make sure your keyword is a part of the title.
One thing many website owners do which is slightly detrimental to their search engine rankings is include ONLY the title of their business in the title of their website – for each and every page.
Unless the name of your business is very relevant to what you’re trying to sell, it’s a mistake to use it in the title tag of all your pages. Your potential visitors probably don’t care what the name of your company is; they just want to know what you’re selling.
Think of it this way: when someone bookmarks your page, they want to be able to know what that bookmark is when they scroll through all their bookmarked pages. Can they tell at a glance what your page is about? Because it is the title that shows up in the bookmarks.
Use that as a guide!
Hope this helps!
