Ten More Reasons To Start A Blog

On the tail of my post “Ten Reasons To Start A Blog” here comes ten more reasons to start a blog.

1. Blogs are actually favored more by search engines than regular websites.

Not sure why.  I don’t know the algorithm.  This is by experience from me and many other internet marketers. Of course this is in the short run, not necessarily the long run.  But know blogs seem to get a boost.

2. Blogs, by their nature, are also great ways to increase traffic to your site.

Because search engines love blogs, you are likely to get more “organic” (a.k.a. free) traffic to your website.  If your blog is part of your website, than that’s a given.  If it is not, then you can simply point your blog to your website.   You can even have multiple blogs pointing to your website.

3. Blog software allows for blog commenting: search engines love this too.

On a normal site you usually cannot comment.  On a blog, you can.  The more comments you get, the more search engines will love you. Not to mention comments will foster discussion and maybe even give you more ideas on what to do with your blog

4.  Blogs are great for creating returning targeted traffic.

With very good writing and great content, readers will want to come back to your blog.

5. With the nature of blog posts, you are updating your site constantly with information and text: something search engines love.

6. Blogs can be a soapbox

Blogs can be a way for you to express opinion to the world.  This can be very liberating.

7. Blogs are a great way to “test the waters” for future bigger projects.

As an example, blogs are great forerunners for books.  They can be the foundation for a book.  They can gauge interest out there in what you want to write about.  They can even build interest “forcing” you to write a book.

8. Blogs are open 24/7

This is also a benefit of a website: the internet is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  So is your blog.

Get Traffic To Your Website 24x7

9. Blog networks (RSS feeds and other free blogging sites) help publicize your blog for you

Blogs make it easy to create RSS feeds which help other bloggers and readers stay in touch with you.  The easier this is to do, the better for your blog.  If your blog is part of a “free blog site” (like WordPress or Xanga), these blogs are part of a blog network which makes it even easier for others to find your blog!

10. Develop Business Ideas With Your Blog

Blogging is a great way to brainstorm product ideas or even business ideas.  You can gauge public reaction and you may even get comments which will help you tailor your ideas or tune them!

Have fun starting a blog!
